The new year is just around the corner and here comes those dreaded New Year resolutions that most rarely keep. I quit saying I’m going to lose weight this year because it never happens. I am turning my resolutions to another direction which gives me more pleasure and is easier to accomplish. During Lent I usually try to call a friend or someone I know that is homebound or rarely can get out anymore because of health reasons. It makes them happy and it makes me happy too. This year I plan to do it every week of the year.

Children from ABC Day Care in Anderson performed their annual Christmas program Tuesday, Dec. 19. The Wobblers and Sprouts sang “Jingle Bells,” the Munchkins did a small Peppermint Stick skit and sang “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” Pre-K did a small skit with bells and sang Go Tell it on the Mountain.” School age students recited Bible verses about the birthday of Jesus, and everyone sang “Behold that Star.” Cookies and hot chocolate were served to everyone in attendance.

Employees of Grimes County enjoyed a catered Christmas lunch at the Grimes County Expo Center in Navasota Dec. 20. Beginning with the Thanksgiving holidays people are eating lots of good food which leads to all the resolutions about losing weight.

Ginger Lewis celebrates her birthday Dec. 27. On Tuesday, Dec. 19, a group gathered at Cow Talk for lunch. Ginger likes to go there on Tuesdays because its fried chicken day. She loves those wings. Friends attending include Janie Flores, Vera Pimentel, Cynthia Keasling, Aleen Mock, Kathy Restivo and myself. While there, a big bouquet of flowers came to our table for her from her husband, Chris Lewis. Her two grandsons, Christopher and Will Lewis, and her son, William Lewis, walked in to join us. It was a nice birthday lunch. Ginger enjoyed everyone joining her and said this was the first birthday party she ever had.
