Christmas around Grimes County
There are several Christmas events to help you get into the holiday spirit including parades, photos and breakfast with Santa Claus and more.
Grimes County parades begin with the Plantersville Christmas Parade Saturday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. Anderson Volunteer Fire Department hosts their 2nd Annual Christmas Parade Sunday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m.
Navasota’s Home for the Holiday’s event is Saturday, Dec. 9. There are multiple activities throughout the day including a farmer’s market, children’s activities around City Hall from 1-5 p.m. a lighted Christmas Parade on historic Washington Avenue at 6 p.m. followed by the tree lighting ceremony at City Hall with carols by the Navasota High School Choir then a showing of the movie Elf on the lawn.
Bedias is celebrating Christmas with the annual Bedias Civic Club Christmas festivities and parade Saturday, Dec. 16. The day begins with a pancake breakfast with Santa from 8-10 a.m. The Christmas Parade begins at 6 p.m. with lineup at 5:30 p.m. Cookies with Santa begins after the parade inside the Civic Club building. Richards Volunteer Fire Department will also host their annual Christmas Parade Dec. 16, beginning at 2 p.m. Parade participants will begin lining up at the Richards ISD School beginning at 1 p.m. Decorated cars, trucks and trailers are encouraged. The department is also collecting new, unwrapped toys that will be distributed directly to children in the community. Toys may be dropped off at the fire department before or after the parade.
Breakfast with Santa
Santa will make several stops in Grimes County to have breakfast with children. Some of the stops he shared with The Examiner include:
- Dec. 2 – Shiro Civic Association Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 9-11 a.m.
- First United Methodist Church of Anderson, 256 S. Main St. from 8:30-11 a.m.
- Dec. 9 – Christ Our Light Breakfast with Santa at St. Patrick’s Hall, 510 Manley St. in Navasota from 8-11 a.m.
- Dec. 16 – Breakfast with Santa at Martha’s Bloomers, 10 a.m.
- Dec. 16 – Bedias Breakfast with Santa, 8-10 a.m.
