Grimes County volleyball teams cleaned house Nov. 2, sweeping their Area Round playoff matchups. Iola, Anderson-Shiro and Richards each advance to the Regional Quarterfinals.

Iola made quick work of Lovelady at Madisonville High School. The Lady Bulldogs allowed only 22 points over three sets (256, 25-9, 25-7). The Lady Bulldogs advanced to play Frankston in the Regional Quarterfinals Nov. 7, at Buffalo High School (results were not available at press time).

Anderson-Shiro used impressive quickness to the ball, great net play and powerful kills to sweep Hardin (25-22, 25-14, 2522). The Lady Owls advanced to play East Bernard at Cypress Ranch High School Nov. 7 (results were not available at press time).

The Richards Lady Panthers dominated Goodrich 3-0 (25-14, 25-5, 25-9). Alayna Francis had 14 kills and three aces. Chesney Calhoun had six kills and three blocks. Abigail Nay had seven kills and an ace. Ruby Castillo had 10 digs and served 10 points.

Richards advanced to play Neches Nov. 7, in the Regional Quarterfinals (results were not available at press time).
