Jimmy was born Monday, February 20, 1961, in Navasota to proud parents, William and Frances Bohack Tomkivits. He lived a life in which he enjoyed helping family and friends. Jimmy can be remembered best for his rodeo skills, artistic abilities, wood creativity and his talented voice.
Growing up as a daddy’s girl, I spent a great deal of time on my horses named Sugarfoot and Sundown. They were both a gift from my dad. My brother, Jason, can remember riding his power wheels into the pasture, and my dad finding him sitting in the middle of a circle surrounded by cows. Jimmy came and swooped Jason up while Jason telling the cows to “shoo”. Jimmy learned how to play the guitar from his Uncle Tubby. He was a part of the Plantersville Wranglers Band and Brand X Band. Jimmy participated in numerous musical events, and he could turn one word into a whole song. Jimmy had an adventurous side to him. He had a passion for riding bulls and horses. He placed 2nd in the Go Texan bull buck out in February of 1987 and won a belt buckle. Jimmy could also pick up a piece of wood and turn it into anything. He had such a genuine heart and was loved by so many. He danced so gracefully, and his smile was contagious. He was a jokester that enjoyed seeing everyone else laugh and smile. There are just a few of thousands of memories that will live on in our lives. Jimmy will truly be missed and forever loved.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Frances Tomkivits and a niece, Amanda Tomkivits.
