Rattlers race in final meet before district
CALDWELL — Navasota varsity and junior-varsity teams ran in their final tune-up before the District 26-4A meet Thursday, April 4, and Saturday, April 6.
Navasota faced a stacked field Thursday, March 28, in the Happy Skrabanek Relays at Caldwell High School.
“The level of competition helped motivate our girls to go out and compete harder than they have all season and to see our girls compete like that on the big stage was amazing,” said Navasota Head Track Coach Jersey Gates. “I’m truly proud of all our girls.”
The varsity girls had a second-place finish in the 4X200 meter relay and a third-place finish in the 4X100 relay. Junior varsity girls had two first-place finishes and a trio of second-place finishes.
“Coming into this meet we knew this was going to be the most competitive track meet of the season and our girls responded and answered the challenge,” said Gates. “The meet before district is the meet you always want to build up and build on your confidence and our girls did just that.”
