Rattler varsity, freshmen win consolation

Navasota’s varsity and freshman volleyball teams each won a consolation championship in separate tournaments last week. The varsity girls competed at the Krum tournament Aug. 19-20. On the opening day they went 2-2 with a loss to Krum (19-25, 19-25) and Van Alstyne (18-25, 21-25). They picked up wins over Pilot Point (25-15, 25-14) and Irving Nimitz (25-17, 25-18). On Saturday the Lady Rattlers finished 2-1, falling to Little Elm (15-25, 18-25) then defeating Krum JV (25-19, 25-20) and Pilot Point for the consolation championship (25-19, 25-22).
Lady Rattler Freshmen
Navasota hosted the Lady Rattler Classic Saturday, Aug. 20, claiming a consolation championship with a 3-1 record. The Lady Rattlers went 11 in pool play defeating Tomball B (25-12, 7-25, 15-13) and falling to Livingston (25-23, 25-14). The pool finished in a three-way tie that was decided by points-allowed moving Navasota to the third spot and the consolation bracket.
Navasota defeated Splendora for the consolation championship 2-0.
Navasota at Waller
All three Lady Rattler teams lost to the Waller Lady Bulldogs Tuesday, Aug. 23. Freshman fell 2-1 (25-15, 19-25, 28-30). Junior varsity lost 2-0 (22-25, 19-25) and varsity dropped their game 3-2 (17-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-25, 7-15). Navasota will host Stafford Friday, Aug. 26, beginning at 5 p.m. The Lady Rattler varsity will compete in the Rockdale High School Varsity tournament Aug. 25 and 27. Tuesday, Aug. 30, teams play against Iola and Rudder A&B.
