Rattler JV still undefeated
HUFFMAN – Navasota Junior Varsity scored early and often to breeze past the Huffman-Hargrave Falcons, 51-20.
Cameron Burrell had touchdown runs of eight and six yards in the first quarter. Grayson Munoz also connected with Tykavien West for a 27-yard score. All three conversion attempts were successful.
Jamarious Thomas forced a fumble in the second quarter and Christian Guillen returned it 32 yards for a touchdown. Giovanni Perez booted in the first of his four extra-point kicks.
Navasota scored twice more with under a minute before halftime. Munoz powered in from a yard out then picked off a Falcon pass with 19 seconds remaining. He and West connected for their second touchdown, this one for 17 yards.
The Rattlers final score was a 10-yard run from Komarion Garrett in the fourth quarter.
“Offensively we moved the ball very well and a lot of different guys had the chance to make plays,” said Navasota JV Head Coach Grant Glendening. “The guys had fun and the defense created a few turnovers and were able to make a lot of stops early and give the offense short fields to work with.”
Glendening said Orlando Santiago, Ty’Kaivien West, Grayson Munoz, Jamarious Thomas, and Christian Gullien were the JV players of the week.
Navasota (4-0) begins district play hosting El Campo Thursday, Sept. 21, at 6:30 p.m.
