Rattler JV blast past Stafford
It was a dominant win from start to finish for Navasota junior varsity, who scored early and often in their 52-8 win over Stafford Oct. 19, at Rattler Stadium.
Grayson Munoz started the scoring barrage with a 10-yard run. The conversion failed. Navasota scored twice in the second for a 22-0 halftime lead. Cameron Burrell scored the first of his three touchdowns, this one good for six yards. Munoz ran in the conversion. Quarterback Jace Jablonski rushed for a 20-yard score, and Munoz again converted for two.
“Overall, offensively our team executed at a high level and were very efficient on offense,” said Navasota JV Coach Grant Glendening. “The offense was led by Jace Jablonski, Cameron Burrell, and Grayson Munoz. They played well all game and helped us move the chains every drive leading to touchdowns.”
Burrell scored twice more in the third quarter on runs of six and 55 yards. Munoz also had a 22-yard touchdown run. Burrell ran in two of the conversions. Ty’Kavien West caught an 8-yard pass for the Rattlers final touchdown. Burrell ran in the conversion.
The Spartans lone score came in the third quarter on a kickoff return. “Defense was strong all game holding them to no offensive touchdowns,” said Glendening. “I’m extremely proud of the way the guys flew around getting to the football. Grayson Munoz, Kynnavion Chappel, and Dre Chavez led the defense to a dominant performance.”
Players of the week are Mason Warren, Jablonski, Burrell, Munoz and Kyn’navion Chapel.
Navasota makes the long trip to Freeport Thursday, Oct. 26, to play the Brazosport Exporters.
