Owls scalp Eagles at Homecoming
ANDERSON- Royalty was crowned and the Eagles were dismantled as the Anderson-Shiro Owls celebrated Homecoming 2019 with a 46-0 win over Brazos Christian.
Zacarrius Haynes had another huge game, scoring four touchdowns in the win. Haynes toted the ball 13 times for 204 yards
(15.6 YPC).
Junior Shyheim Jones had a breakout night with 66 yards rushing on six carries and three touchdowns. Defensively Jones racked up six tackles and four sacks.
Chad Roebuck had an epic night defensively for the Owls (4-0). Roebuck recorded eight tackles, three tackles-for-loss, three sacks and a fumble recovery.
The Owls limited the Eagles (2-2) to 140 yards on offense. They ran the ball 30 times for 9 yards and completed 14-of-35 passes for 131 yards.
“This was another good offensive night for the Fighting Owls,” stated Owl head coach Brad Hodges. “Our defense shut out a team that averaged 50 points per game in their last two games.”
The Owls created five turnovers and had 11 sacks.
Hodges credited the offensive line, Joseph Mancuso, Ja’Colby Matthews and Zane Moriarty, for another strong rushing performance.
“This is the first time a team in Anderson has started 4-0. The homecoming crowd was the largest in the history of Anderson-Shiro football,” said Hodges.
Kreese Milligan was crowned homecoming King and Delaney Compean was crowned homecoming queen.
Brazos Christin Hosts Northside Home School Friday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. Anderson-Shiro travels to take on the Granger Lions.
