Owls get air under their wings again
KOUNTZE- A week removed from a disappointing loss, the Anderson-Shiro have fresh air under their wings with a 52-6 win over the Kountze Lions.
Anderson-Shiro (8-1, 3-1) had another stellar performance from senior running back Zacarrius Haynes who is having a monster season. Haynes accounted for five touchdowns. He carried the ball 24 times for 262 yards (10.9 ypc) and a two-point conversion.
Haynes’ big game was due in large part to the performance of Kreese Milligan who had seven knockdowns and graded out at 88% on offense. Milligan also helped the Owls stingy defense with eight tackles including four for a loss.
Ca’Darrius Williams also posted a great game defensively with six tackles, three interceptions and one pass breakup.
The Owl defense held the Lions to 178 yards offensively including 97 yards rushing and 81 yards through the air.
It was a dominant ground attack for the Owls who finished with 357 yards rushing and seven touchdowns. Cole Werner had nine carries for 41 yards. Shadeed Jones carried three times for 37 yards and a touchdown and Shyheim Jones had 17 yards on three carries, a touchdown and two successful conversions.
“I was very pleased with how we bounced back from the previous week,” explained Anderson-Shiro head coach Brad Hodges. “It was good to have everyone back and healthy and get a good win under our belt as we head into the home stretch of the season. Our coordinators Taylor Beadles and Bill Cowley did a great job of having game plans in place that really played to our strengths. We were able to get some young guys experience in the second half and I was extremely proud of how we played.”
