Lady Rattlers compete in Archie Seals Relays
BELLVILLE- The Navasota Lady Rattlers ran against tough competition in the Archie Seals Relays, Thursday, March 21, running against district foes Bellville and LaGrange. Navasota also lined up against Sealy and Royal.
Navasota’s speedsters had three third-place finishers.
Mikayla Collins, Taniyah Warren, Klarissa Peterson and Ta’Shaunna Leigh placed third in the 4X100 meter relay.
Keauna Seaton, Leigh, Collins and Warren had a third-place finish as well in the 4X200.
Rounding out the runners that placed were Leigh with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.98 a new personal record. Ke’Yauna Robertson also had a personal best with her time of 13.29 good enough for a sixth-place finish.
In the field events Warren jumped a personal best 15-foot 11 and a half inches, to finish third in long jump.
Porsche Jones placed fifth in high jump and Zyria Basey threw to a fifth-place finish in shot put.
“I was very pleased with our girls and our overall performance,” said Navasota track coach Jersey Gates. We got to compete against two talented schools Bellville and LaGrange who are in our district and Sealy and Royal who we will meet if we qualify for the area meet.”
“Our girls got a good feel of what it is going to be like moving forward. Once again, our girls got after it and competed from start to finish an that is always a joy to witness,” explained Gates.
The Lady Rattlers will compete in Caldwell Thursday, March 28.
