Lady Owl continues volleyball career

A change of heart has landed Hannah Barosh where she wants to be.

The Anderson-Shiro High School graduate said she hadn’t planned on continuing her volleyball career beyond her two years at Navarro College. “Then I realized very quickly I wanted to play,” she said.

So, she began emailing coaches and submitting film of herself playing. Southeastern Louisiana University of the Southland Conference was on her radar because she said, “I’ve always been interested in the Southland Conference. I saw that Southeastern had a coaching change. I read up more on Coach Jeremy (White). He’s known for turning them (programs) around.”

The opportunity to be a part of a rebuilding program was enticing, especially because she said her coach at Navarro “did basically the same thing.”

She made an official visit in May and got to meet White, who will be trying to lift Southeastern Louisiana up from two consecutive 27-loss seasons.

The junior is an outside hitter and defensive specialist.

Baseball

Pitcher Garrett Harris recently lost his second game in the independent Canadian American Association. The former Owl allowed four hits and two earned runs in five innings of an Aug. 20 start for Trois-Rivieres and struck out seven. He had an 8-2 record and 3.58 earned run average in 18 appearances.

Football

Jay Jones is a freshman running back for Blinn College. He played for Navasota High.
