Double-double for Kildare
Sophomore Kyle Kildare recorded his first double-double of the basketball season on Feb. 20.
The Iola High School graduate had career highs of 14 rebounds and 13 points f o r Howard Payne University during a loss to University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
In matching his career high of 24 minutes played, Kildare led players from both teams in rebounds. He had one assist, one steal and one blocked shot.
Through 25 games, he averaged 3.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
More men’s basketball
University of Louisiana at Lafayette sophomore Trajan Wesley finished with a career-high 16 points against Louisiana Monroe. The Navasota resident added four assists, two steals and one rebound.
Kae’ron Baker had 23 points for Louisiana College against East Texas Baptist. The Navasota High graduate had seven rebounds, three assists and one steal in the one-point victory.
Men’s rodeo
Anderson-Shiro High product Paden Hurst finished third in the second round of the third bracket of bareback riding at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. He earned $1,250. Hurst collected $750 by placing fourth in the third round of the third bracket.
Navasota resident Foster McCraw earned $2,500 by finishing first in the second round of the second bracket of bull riding at the San Antonio event. He earned $2,500 by placing third in the semifinal.
Softball
University of Texas at Dallas senior Kynsee Gesch started five of the six games she played. Out of Navasota High, the utility player has been catching and had a perfect fielding percentage in 28 chances. She threw out one runner attempting to steal and hit .143 with one run batted in.
Women’s basketball
Keaundra Eddings of Blinn College had 11 points and one steal against Jacksonville College. She played for Navasota.
