OPAL MARIE PERRY 1935 – 2024

Opal Marie Perry, 88, of Anderson, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in Navasota. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Anderson with Pastor Floyd Hoke officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Opal was born in Navasota, TX, on October 28, 1935, to her parents, George Ingram and Dora Lee Patterson Binford. She met and married her long-time soul mate Hershel Bernice Perry, Sr.; to this union four children were created. Opal was the embodiment of strength, courage, determination, and integrity, which she feared absolutely nothing in life. She would make their house into a home filled with unconditional love.

She was a businesswoman throughout her life. Opal owned a dress shop in Magnolia, sold insurance, worked for Merele Norman Cosmetics and Beauty Control Cosmetics. She even spent one day working as a car salesperson at a car dealership but quit the same day due to the parking lot being too hot thus, realizing that wasn’t her calling. She loved doing stained glass and multiple paintings but most importantly, she loved “dancing,” which she took great pride in the fact that she taught her sons to dance.

Opal is preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Bernice Perry, Sr.; her parents, George and Dora Binford; special friend, Joe Hugon; sister, Theresa Binford Hughes; brothers, Shaeffer Binford, Sam Binford, Ross Binford, Wayne Binford, Jack Binford, Donald Earl Binford, and Bobby Binford; sistersin- law, Sallie Binford, Doris Binford, Mavis Binford, Hattie Binford, and Geraldine Binford; and brothers-in-law, Leon Hughes, Curtis Smith, and Vernon Hensarling.

She is survived by her children, Hershel and his wife, Sandra Perry, Kathy and her husband, John Hopkins, Robert and his wife, Christine Perry, and Jud and his wife, Gay Perry; her fifteen grandchildren and twenty- four great-grandchildren; her sisters, Emma Lee Binford Smith, Joyce Hensarling, B.J. and Jonnie Pitts; sistersin- law, Leona Sage Binford, Sandra Binford, Evelyn Perry Schultz, and Cecil Perry Murphy; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Perry; brother and sister-inlaw, Wyatt (Red) Harper and Leah Binford; host of relatives and close friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Robert Perry Jr., Dusty Perry, Jared Perry, Justin Perry, Hershel Perry III, and Randy Kendrick.
