Leah was born on February 28, 1966, to her parents, Dicky and Awilda Ann Barnes, in Hollis, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her parents; her younger brother, David Barnes; and her niece, Peyton.
Leah is survived by her son Levi and wife, Genevieve Jones; her daughter, Bailey and husband Sloan Sechelski; her seven grandchildren (Kamry, Harper, Emorie, Whitlie, Landrie, Abigail & Kaydence); her sister, Shura Garnett; her niece, Tiffany and children; her sister-in-law, DeAnna Barnes and children.
Leah was known to be the life of the party. Her laugh and her smile left a lasting impression. She went out of her way to make sure everyone she knew and met felt loved and welcomed. You’d never meet anyone more hardworking (or hardheaded) than Leah. If there was a job to do, she was going to do it, or make sure it was done and done right. You could count on her for absolutely anything. Leah’s strength, determination and will to fight was such an inspiration. Even more inspiring was her love for and her faith in Jesus Christ. She woke up each morning and laid down each night, thanking God for her abundant blessings. When her children are asked, they will tell you that when they think of their mom, the term ‘Unconditional love’ comes to mind. This is something that Leah instilled in her children from day one and did her very best to show them exactly what it meant. Just as Christ loves his children unconditionally.
Leah loved being outdoors. Her patio was her happy place. She loved spending time by her pool with her kids and grandkids. She loved her plants, fishing, tending to her yard; Anything she could do to be in the sunshine. She also enjoyed dancing any chance she could get; music fed her soul. Shopping was her addiction, and she loved spoiling her grandchildren. They will tell you that she was the best Gigi ever- a name that she wore proudly. They were her absolute world.
Leah touched the lives of many. She leaves a legacy of bigger than life- love, unfaltering faithfulness, compassion and kindness. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will live on in every sunrise, sunset and ray of sunlight. These will be reminders for those who hold her close, that she is never far away.
Memorial contributions are not expected but can be made to Lone Star Cowboy Church, in Memory of Leah Hamm.
