KEILAND “PAPA” FRANKLIN
1993 – 2019
Keiland Franklin, 26, of Navasota, went to be with the Lord October 20, 2019 in Bryan, Texas. Visitation with family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 at Lewis Funeral Home, 509 South Baylor in Brenham. Funeral services for Keiland will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Mt. Calvery Baptist Church located at 224 Peeples Street in Navasota. Burial will be in the Neblett Cemetery immediately after. Arrangements are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Home.
Keiland Deyun Franklin, also known as “Papa,” was born April 9, 1993 to Tammylern A. Franklin and Phillip Palmer, Sr. Keiland was raised by his mother, and dad Christopher Curry.
Keiland accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Charles Tompkins, Sr. in which he later moved his membership to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Gregory Baldwin.
Keiland completed Navasota High School through the 11th grade. After school he gained an interest in horses and trail riding. He wore and encouraged whoever he could to wear boots all day every day. He eventually gained a passion to cut hair and began briefly attending barber school in Houston where he taught himself to cut hair. Keiland was very good with his hands and if he set his mind to something he would make it his business to do it. He self-taught himself to do many things including riding a motorcycle which he would get on and ride wherever the wind took him.
He was preceded in death by his mother Tammylern Franklin-Curry and his great grandmother Carrie Rogers.
Keiland leaves to cherish his memories, his children whom he loved dearly, Myiah (Jakendra), Koy (Haley), Kensley and a child on the way (Alyssa); siblings, nieces and nephew, Xavier Franklin, Sr (Xavier, Jr. and Keegan), Lacci Franklin (Ahmari and Ayden), Lil Phil Palmer (Zayden), Kailand Franklin (Kaisan) and Breasia Palmer. He also leaves a God Brother, Earnest Jacobs.
