JOHN Q. BINFORD

John Quinn Binford, 87, of Temple, died Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the Olin E. Teague Veterans’ Medical Center in Temple, Texas.

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, at First Baptist Church of Navasota with Rev. Clyde Larrabee officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery in White Hall.

John was born Thursday, June 2, 1932, in Navasota to Alex and Catherine Ripkowski Binford. He grew up in Navasota and graduated from Navasota High School. John served his country by joining the U.S. Air Force where he achieved the rank of Staff Sargent. He married his wife Shirley March 20, 1953 and he began a long career with the Navasota Phone Company. He settled in Temple where he enjoyed cattle ranching. While he lived in Navasota, he was a member of First Baptist Church.

John was preceded in death by his parents and wife Shirley.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet Williams and husband Randy of Jacksonville, TX and a son, Johnny Binford and wife Christi of LaGrange, TX, seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren along with longtime special friend Brenda Whitney of Temple.
