FLOYD BUSA

Floyd Busa, 94, of Roans Prairie, passed away Monday, June 20, at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in College Station, Texas. Visitation with family and friends was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at Nobles Funeral Chapel, followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass celebrating his life was at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson Friday, June 24, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Rite of Committal in the church cemetery. Rev. Eli Lopez was the celebrant. Arrangements were under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Floyd was born in Anderson, Texas on June 3, 1928 to John and Agnes (Hetmaniak) Busa. He had a brother, David Busa, and a sister, Alice Busa Podraza. Floyd married Agatha Loukanis at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson on October 23, 1954. They were married 47 years before her death in 2002. Together, they raised two children, Lisa and Floyd Wayne. Floyd and Agatha were lifelong residents of Roans Prairie and Grimes County. Together they built a wonderful life around family and faith.

Floyd’s faith and church were a part of who he was. He and Agatha were lifelong members of St. Stanislaus. Both were born, raised and lived their entire lives as members of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Floyd and Agatha enjoyed the Saturday evening mass where he served as an usher. He took great pride in this. In the early years, Floyd served on the barbecue team for the annual church bazaar alongside his friend, Louis Walkoviak. He was honored to help, and he enjoyed cooking with his friends. Floyd was a quiet and humble man. His large welcoming smile will be remembered by many.

Family meant everything to Floyd. He and Agatha patiently waited 8 years for their first child, Lisa, and four years later, their second blessing Floyd Wayne, arrived. Later when the grandchildren were born, they were the highlight of his life. On June 16, 2021, Floyd was blessed with his first great grandchild, Skyler. He was happiest when all the family was at his home for a visit.

Floyd lived a wonderful and fortunate life doing what he loved. He was a rancher; his love of the land and animals fulfilled him. Floyd loved watching the baby calves grow. He prided himself in buying the best livestock he could. He always had pristine pastures and hay meadows. Floyd and Agatha worked side by side on the ranch; Agatha would help with the cattle round ups and harvesting the hay and crops. When Lisa and Floyd Wayne were old enough, they were there helping as well. It was always a family affair. It didn’t seem like work when they were together. Floyd always had high expectations for his family, and they always tried not to disappoint.

Floyd is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Monty Mayer of Round Top, Texas; son, Floyd Wayne Busa of Roans Prairie; grandchildren, Adam Mayer, John William Busa and his wife Tori, and Claire Mayer Zapalac and her husband Justin; and great-grandchild, Skyler Busa.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to our friends and caregivers; Eva Lowery, Heaven Paulhill, and Tommy Phoenix. These special people made it possible for Floyd to enjoy his last days at his home and ranch.

Serving as pallbearers are John William Busa, Adam Mayer, Justin Zapalac, Monty Mayer, Philip Podraza and Jason Andruss.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, and sister.
