ERNEST N. MORELAND 1939 – 2023

Mr. Ernest N. Moreland, 84, of Navasota, passed away Tuesday, May 23. Visitation with family and friends was held Tuesday, May 30, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the funeral chapel with interment following in Oakland Cemetery with Harvey Leathart officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Ernest was born on March 27, 1939, in Houston, TX, to his parents John Henry Moreland, Sr. and Ella Dora Jackson Moreland. Ernest was a dedicated member of the Navasota Fire Department for nearly 20 years. He spent the remainder of his career with Trinity Industries where he retired.

Ernest married Doris Nobles to whom he spent forty- nine years of marriage. Ernest was a man who always supported his family and friends. He enjoyed riding around town, fishing, helping others, and especially family Sunday luncheons.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; son, Ray; siblings, Joe and Marie.

Ernest is survived by his children, Richard and wife Jo Anna Moreland, Glenda and husband, Glenn Carrell; grandchildren, Cara, Ricky and wife Amber, and Neil Moreland, Ray Carrell; great-grandchildren, Tristan and Dakota McDaniel, Kayleigh Lincecum, Grant and Falynn Moreland; brothers, James Moreland, John and wife Beverly Moreland; sisters, Linda Schroeder, and Ella Rhodes; along with numerous other relatives.

Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Moreland, Neil Moreland, Ray Carrell, Brian Moreland, T.J. Roese, Dustin Buro, Chad Marek, and James “Cut Out” Nobles.
