ARTHUR LAWRENCE STEELE

Arthur Lawrence Steele, 85, of Washington, TX, died May 23, 2021.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Friedens UCC Church in Washington, TX. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Arthur Lawrence Steele was born on October 4, 1935 in Navasota, TX, the son of Oscar L. Steele and Myrna “Arnold” Steele. Arthur attended school in Navasota having graduated from high school in 1955. He worked for Tennessee Oil Co. for 12 years, and afterward came home and worked for Texas Park and Wildlife for 35 years. He married his high school sweetheart in 1958, served in the Texas National Guard for 9 years and upon his retirement he moved to Washington, TX and began raising cattle.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Mary Helen; two daughters, Lisa Kettler, Cindy Walkoviak and husband John; grandchildren, John Ross and wife Laramie Kettler, Elizabeth Kettler and Christopher Walkoviak; sister, Judy Stoneham and husband John; sister-in-law, Terri Schilling; brothers-in-law, Dale Borgstedte and Ted Borgstedte and wife Linda; and nieces and nephews.

Grandsons and friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law; son-in-law, John Lane Kettler; niece, Laura Schilling; brother-in-law, Larry Schilling; sister-in-law, Trish Borgstedte, and great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to the Friedens UCC Church in Washington, TX.
