Young to address Grimes County Republican Women
The Grimes County Republican Women (GCRW) will hear from Dr. Audrey Young, SBOE member for District 8, Tues., Sept. 19.
Young was first elected to the SBOE District 8 position in 2020. District 8 includes about 1.9 million Texans who reside in 11 counties: part of Ft. Bend, part of Galveston, Grimes, part of Harris, Houston, Polk, part of Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker and Waller counties.
Prior to being elected to the SBOE, she served as the President, Board of Trustees for Apple Springs ISD in Trinity County. During that tenure, she was appointed by the Governor to the Special Education Funding Allotment Committee and to the Texas Education Agency’s School Board Trustee Advisory Leadership Committee. In her current role on the SBOE, she serves as the Chair of the Committee on Instruction. Some of her SBOE areas of focus have been in Special Ed, Health/ Sex Ed (providing parental empowerment in their child’s education), School Librarians, Social Studies curriculum.
Audrey is married to Reverend Scott Moore, pastor of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and Deputy Sherriff for Trinity County. Her daughters, Amanda and AmyBeth, are college graduates and work full-time in their field of expertise. Dr. Young is an Alumni of South Florida State College and the University of Central Florida. She is involved in Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas (9th generation Texan and the descendant of a member of the very first Texas Legislature), and the Trinity County 4-H.
