Two arrested in large narcotic trafficking sting

PLANTERSVILLE – Leroy Ward, 57, and Shanell Raglin, 43, both of Planters-ville, were the first two felony arrests in an ongoing narcotic trafficking case conducted by Navasota Police Department, Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, Grimes County District Attorney investigations, DEA and ATF.

According to Navasota Lt. Michael Mize, the case was opened in 2017 and after “successful surveillance and evidence gathering” agencies executed two search warrants Wednesday, April 3, one in the 10000 block of FM 1774 in Plantersville and the other in the 4000 block of Palmer Lane in Navasota. College Station Police Department, Brazos County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Office of the Inspector General were also involved in Wednesday’s multi-location bust.

“Officers seized 19.1 grams of Meth, 32.9 grams of cocaine, 2.66 ounces of marijuana, two assault rifles, two pistols, various amounts of paraphernalia and more than $46,000 cash and multiple assets believed to be purchased with narcotic proceeds and/or used in narcotic trafficking,” said Mize.

The arrests of Ward and Raglin were made in connection with the search warrants and the ongoing investigation. Ward was arrested for an outstanding delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 warrant and a Texas Department of Criminal Justice blue warrant. He has also been charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1 between 4 and 200 grams; possession of marijuana between 2 and 4 ounces; and four counts of felon in possession of a firearm. Raglin was arrested for an outstanding warrant for delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1.

“More arrests and warrants are planned related to this investigation,” said Mize.
