Smith attends LIFE seminar

Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Martha Smith attended the Leadership Inventory for Female Executives (LIFE) last week at the prestigious Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas at Sam Houston State University.

The weeklong seminar promotes leadership development opportunities for women in law enforcement as well as instilling equal rights without regard to race and/or gender differences. The course included renowned keynote speakers that shared their experiences and perspectives in law enforcement leadership and management. They focused on the transition over the last four to five decades around the country of few women in law enforcement and leadership to a trend that has shown an increase. 

Participants gained great perspective of respect, leadership, networking, as well as self-growth, and management skills to bring back to their respective agencies.
