Shootings ensue after Foster Street murder

A Thursday night shooting on Foster Street in Navasota, claimed the life of 24-year old Fredrick Santee of Washington County. Since the murder, four other shooting incidents that are believed to be linked are being investigated.
Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt stated on Thursday, Nov. 18, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Foster Street at 10:15 p.m. Officers arrived to find Santee deceased to an apparent gunshot. He stated the shooting is being investigated as a homicide. “At this time there is no one in custody,” stated Myatt
Since the murder of Santee, Navasota Police have responded to four reports of shots fired in a two-day span.
On Sunday, Nov. 21, Navasota Police responded to three shootings. Officers were dispatched to the first incident at approximately 10:17 p.m. at the 700 block of Doris Street. Officers arrived and discovered one apartment had damage from multiple shots. No one was injured.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., while police officers were investigating the previous shots fired call, officers heard shots being fired in the area of Baker Street. Officers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the exact location of where the shots came from.
At approximately 10:50 p.m., Navasota dispatch received a call of shots fired in the 1200 block of Chinski Street. Officers arrived and spoke to the reporting party that said they heard multiple shots in the area. Officers extensively patrolled the area but were unable to locate any evidence of an exact location. No property damage was reported by citizens in the area.
On Tuesday, Nov. 23, at approximately 2 a.m., Navasota dispatch received a call of shots fired in the 600 block of Baker Street. Upon arrival, officers found that a residence had been shot multiple times. No persons were injured.
“We are taking precautions by ramping up patrols in the city to prevent any further incidents,” explained Myatt. “Investigators are diligently working on the investigations.”
