Several injured in bull goring
Grimes County Sheriff’s Officers responded to reports of an incident involving several people injured by a bull Friday, July 5, on Millstone Drive.
Grimes County Deputy Reed Edleman said he was dispatched to the scene at 5:55 p.m. Upon arrival Edleman stated four people were injured including two critical injuries.
Edleman said a neighbor’s bull entered the property and while attempting to corral the bull, the bull became hostile. “Thankfully the bull did not have to be shot by law enforcement,” said Edleman. “We were able to get the bull away from the victims and out of the pasture safely so medical treatment could begin.” Edleman said the bull was later put down by his owner.
According to Edleman three ambulances and two air medics w ere dispatched and on scene. Members of Todd Mission Volunteer Fire Department and Plantersville VFD secured landing zones for the helicopters.
Edleman stated two victims Lisa Welch and Robert Dominguez were airlifted to regional hospitals, one victim was transported via ambulance and the fourth victim was treated and released on scene.
According to a Tuesday update by Lisa’s sister, Amy Christine, Lisa remains in CCU but is breathing on her own. She said doctors are amazed at how well Lisa is recovering but there is still a long road ahead.
Fundraisers are in the works including one being hosted by the owners of Whiskey Tango. They said details for the fund-raiser will be released as soon as they are available.
Edleman said the bull’s owner doesn’t face any criminal charges but could possibly face a civil suit, by the victims and their families. According to a Facebook post from Christine, a lawyer has been contacted. She also stated the family has not been contacted by the neighbor to check on the victims of the incident.
Christine said Dominguez, the other victim critically injured, was one of Lisa’s neighbors attempting to help corral the bull.
Fundraisers for the victims will be announced and posted in The Examiner once details are available.
