N. LaSalle food truck permit comes before P&Z
The Navasota Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) held a Regular Meeting and public hearing Thursday, March 12, and approved a Specific Use Permit application submitted by Scott T. Armstrong for development of a food truck court at 404 N. LaSalle.
According to Armstrong, the food court will be limited to four small trucks or trailers. The site will feature a small amount of string lights. There will be no tents, just umbrellas on sturdy tables that will be located around the lot’s large pecan tree.
Armstrong said, “What I wanted to accentuate is the pecan tree.”
There will be no public restrooms and food truck owners will be responsible for providing trash containers and cleanup. No water or power outlets will be installed, and trucks will run on generators.
There were no comments against the permit, but neighboring resident Beatrice Baldobino did inquire about parking. Armstrong explained that parking will be “roadside” on Hill Street, and he will eventually provide some parking in a driveway behind the trailers.
Javier and Aracely Saenz, owners of Taqueria La Escondida on S. LaSalle, are already in negotiations with Armstrong to operate a food truck at that location.
