Music study Club host DuoKaze Recital

Past president of MSCN and current program chair Jeanette Tanski is pictured with the performers, flutist Nami Kimura and pianist Miguel Sousa. Affiliated with the Texas and National Frederations of Music Clubs, MSCN will host additional concerts during the year for the community's enjoyment.

First Monday

• The Grimes County Republican Party meets at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the Anderson Community Center, 415 Hill St. in Anderson.

Second Tuesday

• The Richards Township Association holds their monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Richards Fire Department.

• The Grimes County Democrats meet at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Progressive Outreach Center located at 615 W. Virginia St. in Navasota.

• The Grimes County Amateur Radio Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Navasota Fire Department, 1500 LaSalle, in Navasota. The club is open to all ages. October 15

•American Red Cross will host a Blood Drive at The First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 616 Holland St., Oct. 15, 11:30a.m. – 5:30p.m. Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org and enter: Navasota to schedule an appointment.

October 16

• The Chamber of Commerce will be at the 4141 Coffeehouse to discuss area business news and upcoming events Wednesday Oct. 16, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. The first cup of Java is on the house! Call 936-825-6600 to RSVP.

October 18

• 14th Annual Bob Whit-ten Memorial “Shoot for the Moon Golf Tournament” at Pecan Lakes Golf Club in Navasota. The four-man scramble will begin with a 3 p.m. shotgun start. Half the tournament will be played in daylight and the other half at night with special events planned between the two sessions. There will also be a helicopter golf ball drop. October 19

•9th Annual Iola Hay Day will kick off on Oct. 19, 8 a.m. for the Bulldog Dash hosted by the Iola Community Center, followed by the parade at 9:30 a.m. There will be a costume contest, car show, chili cook off and the Jr. Aggie Wranglers along with vending, shopping and live music.

October 21

• Monday, Oct. 21 is a student holiday for NISD district in-service. Brule Elementary and Navasota Junior High will have parent conferences. Students will return on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

October 22

• Navasota High School Diamonettes will host a Sparklettes Dance Clinic from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the Navasota High School Cafeteria. The clinic is open to all girls ages 3 years through 6th Grade. The clinic includes a T-shirt, Snack, Certificate, Dance Routine, and a field performance with the Navasota HS Diamonettes at Halftime - Friday, November 1. October 23

• The Chamber of Commerce will host a lunch-and-learn “Investing in Real Estate,” Wednesday, Oct. 23 from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Navasota Center, 101 Stadium Drive. Call 936-825-6600 to RSVP.

October 24

• All are welcome at the Halloween After-Hours Business Mixer being co-hosted by the Navasota Examiner and Citizens State Bank, at Citizens State Bank in Navasota Thursday, Oct. 24, 5:30-7:00 p.m. Kids and Costumes are welcome. Call 936-825-6600 for more information.
