MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED

SCHULENBURG - Navasota Police Investigators with the assistance of Schulenburg Police Department arrested 44-year Willie Poldo of Navasota in Schulenburg Tuesday, Nov. 30. Poldo is suspected of murdering Fredrick Santee, 24, of Washington County.

At approximately 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, Navasota Police responded to a shooting on the 700 block of Foster Street. Santee was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Navasota Police obtained an arrest warrant for Poldo and the warrant was executed Tuesday afternoon.

“I am proud of the diligent work by our officers and everyone involved that made this arrest possible,” stated Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt.

After Santee was murdered, shootings ensued with officers responding to four shots-fired incidents in a two-day span. Myatt stated the shootings are believed to be related to Santee’s murder.

“Officers continue to investigate the shootings and we hope to have resolutions soon,” said Myatt.

On Sunday, Nov. 21, Navasota Police responded to three shootings. Officers were dispatched to the first incident at approximately 10:17 p.m. at the 700 block of Doris Street. Officers arrived and discovered one apartment had damage from multiple shots. No one was injured.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., while officers were investigating the previous shots fired call, officers heard shots being fired in the area of Baker Street. Officers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the exact location of where the shots came from.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., Navasota dispatch received a call of shots fired in the 1200 block of Chinski Street. Officers arrived and spoke to the reporting party that said they heard multiple shots being fired in the area. Officers extensively patrolled the area but were unable to locate any evidence of an exact location. No property damage was reported by citizens in the area.

On Tuesday, Nov. 23, at approximately 2 a.m., Navasota dispatch received a call of shots fired in the 600 block of Baker Street. Upon arrival, officers found that a residence had been shot multiple times. No persons were injured.
