Leman talks redistricting with GC Republican Women

The Grimes County Republican Women will kick off 2022 with District 13 State Representative Ben Leman as guest speaker at their Jan. 18 lunch and learn. Rep. Leman will discuss the impact of redistricting on Grimes County and the accompanying changes in representation residents will soon experience.

Rep. Leman was raised in Magnolia, Texas and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Finance. He and wife, Christie, have been married since 2004 and are blessed with four beautiful children.

Rep. Leman began his successful business career when he co-founded an oil and gas equipment manufacturing company in 1997. As CEO of Merrimac Manufacturing, Inc., he successfully navigated major growth rates on a very tight budget, expanding the comp l e x business ‘from just two of us in my mother’s garage’ to over 100 employees, 25 stocking locations around the world and a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in House District 13. Rep. Leman sold the company in 2012 to a publicly-traded company, where he continued to work for one more year.

After selling his business, Rep. Leman felt called to public service, so he announced his candidacy for Grimes County Judge and was elected in 2014. As County Judge, he combined his business acumen with his conservative principles to prepare Grimes County for the significant growth headed its direction.

So, when a special election was called to fill the unexpired term for State Representative for House District 13, Ben decided to announce his candidacy for the position. He was elected and sworn in to office on May 31, 2018. He is now representing the citizens of HD 13 for the 3rd term. He currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Land and Resource Management Committee and is on the Calendars Committee, Energy Resources Committee, and the Republican Caucus Policy Review Committee.

The Lemans reside within Grimes County, where they enjoy raising their family in a rural setting. Their kids are actively involved in 4-H Club, running the family cattle operation, and showing animals at the local county fair. The Lemans are active members of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson where Ben serves on the Finance Committee.

The January lunch meeting will be held at New Hope Church, 2159 SH 105 East just off SH 6 in Navasota. Come at 11 a.m. for some social time followed by lunch, speaker, and business meeting at 11:30. Adjournment is approximately 1 p.m.
