There is no bigger cheerleader for Navasota ISD than Superintendent Dr. Stu Musick! On Oct. 18, the Grimes County Republican Women welcome him as the guest speaker at their lunch meeting at New Hope Church, 7908 Highway 6 Loop.

Dr. Musick is in his 32nd year as an educator and during that time has served as a teacher, coach, middle and high school principal and now as superintendent.

During his 17 years in the classroom, Dr. Musick taught Physics, Chemistry, Applied Physics, Principals of Technology and Integrated Physics and Chemistry. Before being named Navasota’s Superintendent of Schools, he served in that capacity at Oakwood ISD and Hubbard ISD.

As a coach for 10 years, he helped send 18 players to the collegiate level and 5 to the professional level and racked up 168 wins. Dr. Musick was twice named Montgomery County Coach of the Year, and in 2004 was named the Greater Houston Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes “Impact Coach of the Year.”

Appointments and board service include being tapped as one of four Texas principals to serve on the “Small Schools Committee” for the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) and he currently serves on the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner’s Cabinet of Superintendents.

His wife Lauren Musick serves as an administrator and Assistant Principal at Navasota Junior High School. The Musick family which includes daughters Emma and Brennan call First Baptist Church of Navasota their church home.

As NISD’s ‘Super’ cheerleader, Dr. Musick welcomes the opportunity to get out in the community and share information and the ‘good news’ about the great things happening in Navasota ISD schools.
