Coach rides and historic trades at Fanthorp Inn

ANDERSON - Come out May 14 and 15 for 19th Century carriage rides and historic trade demonstrations at Fanthorp Inn, 579 S. Main Street in Anderson.

“The Fanthorp Inn and surrounding area hosted a variety of trades people who sold their wares to the community. During this program you will get to see first-hand how blacksmiths, tailors, cobblers and more would hand craft many of the items we take for granted today,” said Chandler Wahrmund, Educator at Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site.

The program is open 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days and will consist of a guided tour of the inn focusing on the trades and services provided by Henry Fanthorp and the guests of his inn. In addition to the tour, the inn will host several historic tradesmen and women who will demonstrate how some of the wares sold around the inn were made. On Saturday only, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., you can hop aboard the replica stagecoach for a ride through Anderson. Historic interpreters will be dressed in authentic 1850s attire to help immerse guests into the experience of frontier travel. Admission is free and open to the public. Cash donations are appreciated.

Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site, a Texas Historical Commission site, is a stagecoach stop and inn located on Main Street in Anderson, Texas.
