•Tickets for the Navasota High School prom scheduled for April are on sale in the NHS Library until April

Through April 13

•The Navasota Theatre Alliance presents youth summer theatre camps directed for NTA by Jessica McHale. The teen camp will feature The Music Man Jr. and is available to graduated sixth through 12th-graders. Registrations must be completed by April 13. Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13. The camp will be held June 17-29. Through April 27

•The Navasota Theatre Alliance presents youth summer theatre camps directed for NTA by Jessica McHale. The rising star camp will feature Kid Frankenstein and is available to graduated first through fifth-graders. Registrations must be completed by April 27. Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27. The camp will be held July 22-27. April 10

•The Rio Brazos Audubon Society invites the public to the monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Brazos Center, 3232 Briarcrest Drive in Bryan. This month’s speaker will be John Hale.

April 11

•There will be a Shiro Civic Association meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11.

April 12

•Friday, April 12, will be the last day to buy a Navasota High School prom ticket. Contact Nancy Bouliane, if you have any questions by calling 936-825-4231 or boulian@navasotaisd.org.

April 13

•The Muddy Water Bookstore in downtown Navasota will host a Game of Thrones party from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 13. There will be character reenactments from the show, the Iron Throne, mead and many other items from BeeWeaver Honey Farm. The Grill Sergeant will be outside the store offering meat on a stick with veggies and hot dogs.

•The Navasota G. W. Carver Alumni Association is having a fashion show and dinner fundraising event beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Carver Gym, 1602 South LaSalle St. in Navasota. Tickets are $20 and the public is invited. For more information, call 936-894-2592.

•The Navasota Noon Lions Club annual plant sale will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14, along Washington Ave. across from Arlan’s Grocery.

•The 14th annual Grimes County Go Texan crawfish boil doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Grimes County Fairgrounds.

April 17

•The Muddy Water Bookstore in downtown Navasota will host a children’s reading hour from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17. Local author Renee Nolte will be present for reading and book signing.

April 18

•The Texas Master Naturalist – Brazos Valley Chapter invites the public to the monthly chapter presentation at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History, 3232 Briarcrest Drive in Bryan. The presentation on “Invasive Aquatic Species in Texas and Their Impacts” will be given by Dr. Michael Masser. The free event is open to the public.

April 19

•Country music singer and songwriter Jason Crab-tree will make a special guest appearance from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the Grimes County VFW Post #4006 Flight Deck Lounge. There will be no cover charge for the event and everyone is welcome to stop in and enjoy music and dancing.

April 20

•The Lake Grove Cemetery Association, south of Iola, will hold an annual meeting Saturday, April 20, at The Lake Grove Cemetery. The members will meet at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow under the pavilion.

April 21

•The 2019 Grimes County Aggie Muster will be held 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at the August Horst Pavilion next to the Grimes County VFW Post #4006. There will be food available and speakers before the Muster Ceremony.

April 26

•The 17th annual Grimes County Relay For Life will be held 6 p.m. until midnight Friday, April 26, at Brule Field in Navasota. For more information, email grimescorelayforlifegmail.com.

April 27

•The NHS Prom, “An Enchanted Evening,” will be Saturday, April 27, at The Brazos Center in Bryan for all eligible NHS juniors and seniors and their guests. Contact Nancy Bouliane, for more information, at 936-825-4231 or boulian@navasotaisd.org.

•The White Hall Community Center Birthday Bash car and bike show will be held Saturday, April 27, at 14536 FM 362 in Navasota. There will be a barbecue chicken meal, live music and bucket raffles. May 1

•The Navasota Garden Club and Music Study Club of Navasota will host a joint meeting beginning at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at First Baptist Church Navasota. The Garden Club will have installation of officers at 9:30 a.m. Garden club members are to bring salads and the music study club members will bring desserts. Visitors are welcome.

May 2

•Grimes County VFW Post #4006 will honor the National Day of Prayer with a service led by the Rev. Henry Sanders beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in the main hall of the post. The public is invited to the annual observation services.

May 4

•The city of Planters-ville will hold an election Saturday, May 4, for the positions of mayor and five aldermen.

May 27

•A Memorial Day program will begin at 4 p.m. Monday, May 27, in the main hall of Grimes County VFW Post #4006. The public is invited to join the post members as they remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country and the freedoms it holds dear. Commander Carl Dry hopes to see a full house for the short and meaningful service. There will be small flags available throughout the weekend for those who wish to place a flag on the grave marker of a veteran.

First Monday

•The Grimes County Republican Party meets at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the Anderson Community Center, 415 Hill St. in Anderson.
