Apparent accidental shooting hospitalizes teen

Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that hospitalized a teenager. 

Grimes County Lieutenant John Jones said officers responded to the 7000 block of FM 3090 in Anderson around 11:03 p.m. April 6. Jones said it appears the teenager was handling a 9mm handgun when it discharged striking him in the chest. 

The victim was initially transferred to Grimes St. Joseph Hospital in Navasota then transferred to Herman Hospital in Houston for further treatment. Jones said the victim is in stable condition. 

GCSO is continuing the investigation. Jones said no charges have been filed in the incident.
