Letters to the editor
Thank you, City of Navasota!
Dear Publisher,
I would like to thank the City of Navasota for putting on such a fabulous event this past weekend. This year’s Texas Birthday Bash had a good mix of both country and Tejano bands, with some playing a variety of music genres. There was definitely something for everyone!
Both nights had a diverse crowd that included all ages and ethnic groups. It was nice to see former Navasota residents come back to their hometown for some great music, food and fellowship. I also saw lots of out of town visitors who got a taste of the fun times we have in Navasota.
The laid back, family atmosphere was the perfect start to spring break!
Thanks to everyone’s hard work - can’t wait for the next event!

Your EMS is ripping you off!
Dear Editor,
CHI St. Joseph is abusing its power and the ignorance of your commissioners to take advantage of you and it needs to stop.
About a year ago an EMS committee was formed in your community to help provide the best service to every citizen. They did what none of your commissioners were willing to do by asking the hard questions and demanding better service for all of you.
It was this committee that demanded an additional ambulance be placed in Navasota, so the city would have the service it deserves. Unfortunately, they kept pushing for better service, and do to pressure from CHI St. Joseph, they were disbanded.
One of the topics never answered was the abuse of using the air medical service (Air Med 12). Once CHI started the partnership with the air medical company PHI, they had to increase flight volume anyway they could to justify the operation.
CHI St. Joseph EMS put in place a written directive to send the helicopter more often, despite the need of the patient. This jumped the flight numbers up so high that they justified a more expensive helicopter that almost doubled the cost of operating.
Right now, the new Director of EMS is changing operations so this helicopter can be used more often just to “pad” the numbers! Currently the volume for the helicopter is not good and they are trying to justify its existence anyway they can.
If you are not aware, a standard Ambulance cost you about $2,500. The average Medical Helicopter cost is $30,000. CHI St. Joseph is trying to swindle more money from the county to provide coverage when they are making almost 1.5 million in profit from Grimes County.
Please demand better for your community! Make the commissioners accountable for doing what is right. I am ashamed working for this EMS organization that is doing this to you and I. My hope is you will all receive the service you deserve without being forced to submit to this abuse.

Dear Editor,
I agree wholeheartedly with Connie Clements. I listen to Willy 1550AM every day. Sometimes I oversleep and miss the 7 am. news, but I catch it at noon.
The music is great, and I also listen to it when I go “On the Road Again”!! It does bring back bad as well as good memories, but that’s a part of my life and I need to be reminded that life is made up of both. Thanks, Connie for your column, I enjoy it also.
