Dear Editor

Witnessing this historic week, as President Trump announced his 2020 Campaign in Orlando, a spirit of unwavering and enthusiastic patriotism was felt in the air. This huge MAGA crowd, many waiting for 48 hours in the drenching rain and the summer heat of Florida, packed the Arena realizing that they are a significant part of a m ovement sweeping across our land.

Our President promising to Keep America Great, his new campaign theme, as the country is also witnessing this patriotic hope-filled Movement of hard-working dedicated Americans. We ‘Deplorables’ are standing with our President, much to the chagrin of the liberals and members of the mainstream media who took delight in mocking and insulting these dedicated Americans in such a contemptuous and sarcastic way while sincere patriots are taking note.

Also, this week, we remember the passage of the Civil Rights Bill. Once again, as we recall the historic events surrounding the passage of the Civil Rights Act on June 10, 1964 and the Democrats opposing this Bill. It is most appropriate that the hypocrisy and insincerity of Vice President Joe Biden who is also one of the 23 democrat presidential candidates were brought to light this week as the nation celebrated Juneteenth Day. His connection to the segregationist senators, only proving once again that the Democrat Party is not sincere in its efforts on behalf of Black Americans.

Historical facts surrounding the details of those proceedings reflect that members of the Democrat Party openly opposed the passage of the Civil Rights Act staging a 75-day filibuster, among the longest in U.S. History. On one occasion, Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, a former Ku Klux Klan member, spoke for over 14 consecutive hours.

On a side note, less we forget, Hillary Clinton proclaimed at his funeral that Senator Byrd was her Mentor. Her husband, Bill, was proud to proclaim that Senator J. William Fulbright, the segregationist of Arkansas, who signed the Southern Manifesto, was his mentor.

History also reflects that the Democrats, the party of slavery, secession, segregation and the KKK, fought against equality. Now, it is the party of division, defiance, late-term abortions, sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants, open borders and vicious hatred for a sitting president.

As we recall the anniversary of this important event, it is well that we remember the ramifications of this day in our historic past and the heroes of the day, Senator Everett Dirksen, Republican senator from Illinois, and the Republican Party.

For the first time in its history, cloture was invoked on a Civil Rights Bill, ending a record-breaking filibuster by Democrats. The hero of the day was minority leader, Senator Everett Dirksen.

So, I ask once again, over the years how has the Democrat Party befriended Black Americans, other than helping to create a dependent class with government handouts, programs and projects. From my point of view, not very well. Instead of helping Black Americans find that “Shining City on the Hill,” the Democrats have helped to create a welfare dependency that is in reality, just another form of slavery, thereby, ensuring a secure voting block for their party. However, as Joe Biden and his cohorts continue to fumble, mumble and stumble, their liberal message will continue to crumble. We can only hope.
