Community planning 150-year celebration
Thanks to Susan Brak and other Salem Lutheran volunteers the 2023 VBS which was a huge success. The children were still excited during Sunday service. Maybe Little Man can attend VBS next summer.
Three days with Little Man wore me out. I am blessed I am able to do things with Kohen. We went on his first school field trip to Aggieland Safari Friday. He wasn’t too sure about everything going on, but finally realized he could throw food out the window. All was good until he tried to throw food thru the opposite side of the bus and hit a father with the food. Then we went to see Aunt Norma since her birthday was Saturday. He shared hugs, shoes, cap and other things with her.
Saturday, LaLa (Grandma Kacie) needed some alone time so Little Man stayed with me. He was in awe with the men cutting my trees. On Sunday, he went to church with me. He went to a bench, patted it so I knew I had to sit there rather than my usual spot. He scattered books and colors all over the bench and floor, but he was relatively quiet.
The NHS Class of 1969 class sign will be up at the Football Stadium again this year. Thanks to all who sent money to make this happen.
All the popular local places are getting together to celebrate 150 years of our White Hall community. Once I get more information, I will let you know. It may be in October.
The Roans Prairie Community Center hosts a social once a year, normally in July. Tuesday I was honored to be a guest. I think it began as an ice cream social (Blue Bell) and people came to play dominoes and have fun but this time we were also served Subway, chips and desserts. Thank you, Ronnie Floyd, for the invitation. It was fun to meet new people and I think I met my match, Mrs. Pasket from Anderson. Margaret Falco and I met three new people who were brave enough to play Mexican train with us.
I am so proud of all the people who come to support the VFW at Tuesday Bingo. As usual, I did not win, but I did enjoy visiting with everyone.
VFW Post 4006 is hosting a cook-off Oct. 14. More information will be available soon. Barbara “Cuz” Gstohl is getting things lined up. If you do not know her, she was Shorty Nobles’ sister-in-law.
I would like to add Joanne Floyd to the prayer list. She has been having some health issues for a very long time and is still in rehab. She was missed at the Roans Prairie gathering.
