Birthday Bash raffle tickets available
I want to thank all the people in communities for collecting plastic caps for the VFW Auxiliary. We delivered the caps up to the March 31 deadline. I appreciate those who support the efforts of District 19. We are 17th in making benches for homeless veterans. Once I learn final results, I will let you know.
VFW Auxiliary is still collecting can pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House project. Contact any member or drop them off at Discount Cleaners. Darlene is a lifetime member of our auxiliary and will get them to us.
Monday was a difficult day for my family. My daughters lost their dad and the grands lost their grandpa. I lost a good friend and already miss the daily phone calls and texts. Butch was a proud Marine and Vietnam vet. Hillier did an excellent job showing him the respect he deserved. I was hit hardest when three Marines folded the casket flag and presented it to Kacie. Another flag was presented to Joni by James DeGeorge and the final flag was presented to Jordan by Steve Dupree. Both veterans are members of Post 4006.
Commander Reed was thoughtful allowing me to assist in folding the second casket flag. Sheriff Sowell assisted with the Marine Military Service and Pastor Mayerhoff did an awesome job always visiting with Butch, assisting the girls and being available for the family at all times.
