Wagner family visits New York
Winner number 18 of the 2nd Annual St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 52-week gun raffle was drawn Sunday, Dec. 26. The winner of a Desert Eagle 1911, 45 Auto is Randy Briers of Anderson. The next drawing will take place Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022.
Mark your calendars for the upcoming Crimestoppers Banquet set for Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Anderson. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Daylen Wagner, daughter of Darrell and Dana Wagner, graduated from Anderson-Shiro CISD in 2018 and went on to attend Texas A&M University in College Station. On Saturday, Dec. 18, Daylen graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In January, she will start an online accelerated program to get her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington. This past February, Daylen started working at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan to get some nursing experience under her belt. Best of luck to Daylen as she pursues her future goal.
So, this year the Wagner family decided to go on a trip as a Christmas gift to themselves – New York was the decision. Daylen graduated at 9 a.m. on Dec. 18, and at 2:30 p.m. their family was on a plane out of town. They stayed five nights in upper and lower Manhattan. Some of the things they experienced were Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, shopped at holiday markets, viewed the Christmas window displays, toured the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and the 911 Memorial, went to Wall St., walked the Brooklyn Bridge and back, ate at famous restaurants and pubs, and much more. One of the fun parts of their trip was when they rented motorized scooters to take a tour through Central Park.
Hopefully everyone had a wonderful and blessed Christmas holiday gathering with family and friends. Even though it didn’t seem like Christmas since the temperatures were in the 80’s, it still came and went quickly. Our family, as usual, enjoyed getting together for the holidays in Anderson and Montgomery. As I write this article, my mind and body are fading fast. I’m exhausted and stuffed! Sure glad these holidays only come once a year.
And in just a few days, the year 2022 will be here. Please be safe for those who plan to ring in the new year at a party or out of town. Then the holidays will be over as students return to school Wednesday, Jan. 5.
