Storms roared across our area as residents kept an eye on the storm Friday. The weathermen had warned us this could be a dangerous storm moving fast and furious in our direction. Many residents kept an eye on the sky as we waited to see how bad things would be.

Many of our residents in Richards and across the county lost power and some received damage from the storm. It sounded bad and then the power went off. I wondered what I might find but was afraid to venture out in the dark. Our electricity was restored around 3:45 a.m. Many had power outages that extended into the next day or two.

Electric companies worked long and hard to restore outages. We really appreciate them. They go out in all kinds of weather situations and risk their lives to help us. Thanks to all those who responded.

It was early in the morning and after riding out the storm and losing power it began to calm. I decided to take my flashlight and take a peak before I climbed into bed. I went out to my side porch and much to my amazement the door was blown open. As I had my little flashlight and approached the storm door was still closed. I knew both doors had been closed and I thought locked. I shined the light on the porch and saw four eyes shining from the cage against the door, so I couldn’t open the door. The eyes ended up being my cats who were sheltering in the cage. They were fine but a little startled.

My greenhouse also lost a couple of panels and the glass top of my picnic table blew across the fence and shattered. We only had minimal damages. I thank God because it could have been much worse. Thanking him once again for keeping us all safe through the storms.
