The Grimes County Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Grimes County Expo Center Thursday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. until noon. You must be a resident of Grimes County to participate and proof of residency is required.

Flu shots will be given at the Grimes County Senior Center on Main Street in Anderson Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 1:30 p.m. till 2:30 p.m.

The annual St. Stanislaus Catholic Church bazaar will take place Sunday, Oct. 13, on the church grounds in Anderson. According to the weather stations, the day should be a very pleasant one. Mass will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a barbecue dinner beginning at 11 a.m. There will be games and booths for all ages, homemade and handmade items as well as their 150-year history book will be for sale in Babusha’s Porch, the St. Stan Shuffle, a live auction, a raffle, tours of the 1917 Polish church and live Polish music and dancing with Brian Marshall and the Texas Paradise Band. A new event has been added this year: you can buy a square or two or more like you do on a football pot to try and win a heifer donated by the Santa Rosa Ranch owned by the family of Gerald and Suzanne Sullivan. More events coming in October is the Knights of Columbus Spaghetti Dinner and Gun Raffle Friday, Oct. 18, the Anderson-Shiro Education Foundation annual fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 19, and Anderson’s Trunk or Treat Saturday, Oct. 26.

As many of you are slowly finding out, I no longer am the contact person to rent the Anderson Community Center, formerly known as the American Legion Hall. Since I have moved out of town it’s not as easy to do anymore. For rental of the hall contact Karen McDuffie, 936-827-9422.

Thomas Moriarty, son of Gary and Charlene Moriarty, tied the knot with Meagan Pasket, daughter of Larry and Sherry Pasket, Saturday, Oct.

5. Fr. Ed Kucera performed the ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Planters-ville. Then the wedding party, their family and friends headed to the Grimes County Expo Center in Navasota for a dinner and dance reception. After a honeymoon trip to the Virgin Islands, Thomas and Meagan will make their home in Richards.

This past Sunday my family gave our mother, Dolores Hoffart of Dobbin, a birthday party at our home in Anderson. In attendance were all five of her children and most of their families as well as special friends. Her brothers and sisters, John D. Herzog, Darrell Herzog, Ann McDuffie and Tootsie Mock, were all there also except for her sister Aleen Mock, who had a prior commitment. Dolores turned 85, Oct. 8.

Happy Anniversary this week to: Oct. 10, Travis and Diane Pasket, 10 years; Oct. 12, Travis and Ashley Cleere, six years; and Oct. 14, Trey and Danielle Wetuski, two years.
