Congratulations to eighth-grader Brooklyn Byars, daughter of Stacey Byars-Cosby, who was recently named “Student of the Month” at Anderson-Shiro Jr. High. Brooklyn and I go way back to when she was small, and Darren and Stacey would drop her off at my house in town in the morning. I would then drop her off at the day care on the way to my job in Plantersville to help the Cosby’s out. We would sing nursery rhymes between Anderson and Plantersville. Brooklyn’s favorite was the “Three Little Kittens.” I think it was the dramatic way I sang “Meow, meow, meow” that caught her attention. Therefore, if we didn’t sing any songs, we had to sing that one every day!
