Amanda Sechelski, a second-grade teacher at Anderson-Shiro Elementary, is also the sponsor of the Kindness Club. Amanda and her students in the club thank everyone who donated new and gently used winter clothing items to their clothing drive that was held before Christmas break. They had an abundance of donations come in and were able to help over 60 people in our community stay warm. They appreciate everyone

for spreading kindness and warmth during the holiday season!

The Kindness Club also collected food for their Thankful Hearts Thanksgiving Meal. With this collection of food, the Club provided 3 deserving families from our school district with a full Thanksgiving meal. Each box fed 10-12 people and included a turkey, bag of potatoes, corn, stuffing, green beans, rolls, cranberry, plates, napkins, and cutlery. Many thanks to Amanda and this group of kids for practicing acts of kindness – something that is lacking in our world today. They are currently making bookmarks for the school library. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations to Anthony Olivieri of Anderson who just finished his 6-year journey to become a deacon in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Anthony followed in his brother Mark Olivieri’s footsteps as he has been a deacon in the Austin Diocese at St. Thomas Aquinas in College Station for over 7 years. Through this journey, Anthony obtained a Master of Art in Pastoral Studies. His ordination took place Saturday morning, Feb. 18, at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral in Houston. He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville and was assigned to that parish under the direction of Fr. Ed Kucera. After the Saturday evening and Sunday morning Masses this past weekend, he was honored in the hall with a reception.
