Richards parade enjoyed by all
There is a new flag flying high at the Richards Civic Club located in the old bank building. A very special thanks from our community to Gary and Gwen Pool and to Bill Thomas. Gary and Gwen Pool donated the new flag, and Bill Thomas loaned one of his men and the equipment to make this possible. Thank you so much.
The annual Christmas parade was a huge success. It appeared there was a lot more community participation in the parade this year. There was a little bit of everything. I surely enjoyed it. The parade had several horseback riders, floats and antique vehicles. If you missed the parade the first time around, chances are you caught it the second time.
I was up late enjoying the lights from the Christmas tree which are so beautiful! As I sit here in the wee hours of the night, I can hear a lonesome train horn blowing in the distance and the howling of coyotes. That is a lonely kind of a sound especially when you are by yourself.
During the holiday season there seems to be more events and places to go than time allows. Many people spend time with family and friends. It is often a time of joy, fun and relaxation, but for some folks it’s a very sad time. If you are feeling lonely, try to get involved with a church, friends or even just doing for others. These kinds of things often work wonders. This year I have experienced a loss. My mother-in-law, and a friend who was like a sister both passed away. I miss them but I must remember that my loved ones are spending Christmas with Jesus this year. One can only imagine how beautiful that will be.
This week I had company come visit and I went to three parades in different towns, two of which my grandchildren were in. All the parades were unique and different. I have had a busy but blessed week.
