Keith Civic Club Bake Sale April 8

The annual Iola VFD Cookoff Fundraiser was held March 17-18 and was well attended despite cold weather. A good amount of money was raised to help with departmental expenses. Thanks to all who assisted. There were not as many items donated for the auction as last year, but hopefully that will increase next year. 

Masonic Lodge monthly meetings are upcoming. Orphan’s Friend Masonic Lodge will meet Monday, April 3, at their lodge hall in Anderson. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6 p.m. followed by the lodge meeting. Bedias Masonic Lodge will meet Tuesday, April 4, beginning with a meal at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully there will be good attendance at both meetings. All Masons are invited to attend.

Everyone is invited to Sunrise Service at Zion Cemetery near Iola Sunday, April 9, in honor of the resurrection of Christ from the dead. The service will begin at 7 a.m. A meal will not be served. Come out and celebrate with your family, friends and church members.

Hope everyone enjoyed the beginning of spring Monday, March 20. And hopefully cold weather will be a thing of the past.

Evergreen Baptist Church will have several special services. April 2 is Palm Sunday, and everyone is invited to a covered dish meal following service. An Easter Egg hunt will follow. Easter Sunday is April 9. Enjoy donuts and juice before morning worship. Everyone is invited.

Keith Civic Club will have a bake sale Saturday, April 8, at Aurora store on Highway 30. All sort of baked goods will be available for purchase. Come buy your desserts for Easter Sunday. Hope everyone attends and helps Keith Civic Club.

Area residents were sorry to learn of the death of Joyce Marie Andrus Nevill, of North Zulch, who passed away March 19, following a long illness. She was born Sept. 23, 1941 to Mack Leonard and Della Rea McCreery Andrus. She was married to James Nevill. Preceding her in death are her parents and two brothers. Her funeral was held at Cross Baptist Church Wednesday, March 22. Brother Munroe Rice was the minister in charge of the service. Burial followed at Cross Cemetery. Do remember her husband and other family members in your prayers.

Do hope your special day was a happy one.

Happy anniversary this week to Justin and Chantel Lavender Tippy, married March 31, 2001. Do join me in wishing them many more years of happiness together.
