The Iola Junior High basketball teams compete in the Aggieland Summer Volleyball League at Legend’d Event Center in Bryan. Iola’s eighth grade team won the championship while the seventh–grade team placed third with their only loss to the Lady Bulldog eighth graders.

Anderson–Shiro head baseball coach, Robert Jackson, was recognized as the 3A Region 5 Head Coach of the Year. Jackson coached the Owls to the Regional Finals where they dropped their series to state finalist Thrall.
